In an effort to foster equity and secure union protection for all editorial employees of TIME, digital workers have requested voluntary recognition this morning to join their print colleagues as union-represented employees. Though the publication has been represented by the NewsGuild of New York for nearly 80 years, former owners and management of Time Inc. imposed an antiquated digital divide to keep those they deemed digital employees out of the bargaining unit.

After fighting with former management of Time Inc., NewsGuild of New York members at People,TIME, Fortune, Money and Sports Illustrated settled their two-year arbitration resulting in long-overdue, robust paychecks.
