Statement from NYGuild on Vox Media Acquisition of New York Media

Last night at 9:11 p.m., New York Media management informed our members with no prior notice that the company has merged with Vox Media. Our members deserved far greater respect, especially as we are currently actively bargaining for a first contract. While we support any endeavor that protects the future of these publications, our job is to hold management to their word that this merger will only strengthen these publications and the careers of our members. 

We are committed to fighting for the specific needs of our members who make the New York Magazine print and digital publications so unique and valued. We look forward to continuing negotiations with Vox Media and working in solidarity with the digital workers represented by the Writers Guild of America East. When we stand together, our entire industry is stronger.
