ADVISORY: The Atlantic Union to hold rally outside The Atlantic Festival
09/20/2024
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The unionized workers of The Atlantic, represented by the NewsGuild of New York, will hold a rally today at 12:30 p.m. outside The Atlantic Festival.
The rally for a fair contract will feature speakers from across TNG-CWA, including President Jon Schleuss, NewsGuild of New York President Susan DeCarava, and members of The Atlantic Union and The Washington Post Guild.
Among the contract issues facing the union:
- Just cause, an essential protection for this union, especially as management continues to arbitrarily use performance-improvement plans
- Layoff protections and safeguards against the use of artificial intelligence
- Reasonable remote-work policies
The Atlantic Festival, which is a key, high-profile event for the magazine, will be in its second day, with Atlantic writers and moderators coming together with elected officials, best-selling authors, actors, climate scientists, health-care professionals, tech leaders, and CEOs for discussions of today’s top issues.
Members of The Atlantic’s Editorial and Business and Technology units were outside the festival on Thursday sharing informational flyers with festival attendees about the union’s contract fight.
