RA nominates delegates to 2010 conventions; 2 for EC vacancies

04/21/2010

The New York Local’s Representative Assembly on Tuesday night nominated two candidates to fill two vacancies on the Executive Committee and also nominated a full slate of delegates and alternates to the up-coming 2010 Newspaper Guild Sector Conference (Convention) and the 2010 Communications Workers of America Convention to be held in Washington, D.C. in July.

Nominated for the vacant post of 2nd vice president was Grant Glickson, unit chair at The Times and a current member of the Executive Committee. Nominated for a vacancy on the EC was Elaine Lindsay, unit chair at the Writers Guild of America, East. The terms of all EC members expire on Jan. 1, 2011.

Opposing candidates for any of the positions may be nominated via petitions signed by at least 5 percent of the Local membership in good standing as of April 1, 2010.  All nominating petitions must be filed with the Local Elections Committee and with Secretary-Treasurer Peter Szekely by 6 p.m., April 28, 2010.

If no such contestants come forward by that time, the RA’s nominees will be declared elected.  In the event of a contest, the RA’s tickets will run as The Democratic Coalition Slate.
