Nominations made for local chair and Executive Committee seat

03/21/2013

The New York Guild’s Representative Assembly (RA) on Tuesday named First Vice President Karen Rohan of Foreign Policy Association as its candidate for local chairperson to replace Ed Fannon, who left the Executive Committee when he retired from his job at Standard & Poor’s in December. Rohan, who is also a former Foreign Policy Association unit chair, was nominated without opposition.

Also nominated without opposition at the March 19 RA meeting was Nadia Taha of The New York Times to fill a vacancy on the 24-member Executive Committee.

Additional nominations for local chairperson or the Executive Committee post may be made by petitions of not less than 5 percent of the Local’s membership in good standing. The petitions must represent at least three units with at least 15 signers from each one. They must be sent to Secretary-Treasurer Peter Szekely by 6 p.m. EDT on March 27, 2013.

If no petitions are filed by the deadline, Rohan and Taha will be declared elected at that time. In the event of a contest, the candidates will run on The Democratic Coalition Slate, and the election will be conducted entirely by mail ballot.
