2020 Deadline Club Awards Contest is Now Open

01/14/2020

The Deadline Club's journalism competition, one of the most prestigious in New York, draws hundreds of entries each year. The 2020 contest covers work that was published or broadcast in 2019 by news organizations in the New York metropolitan area.

There are 36 categories covering all media formats. It is important to review the categories carefully. The Deadline Club has made some changes to the competition categories this year, including an additional contest for radio and audio reporting.

This year, there are two contest deadlines. You will save money if you submit your entries early. The first deadline is Friday, February 7, at 11:59 p.m. The fee is $75 per entry. After February 7, the fee is $100 per entry and the final deadline is Friday, February 14, at 11:59 p.m.

The contest is managed by BetterBNC, and requires contestants create an Open Call Contestant account. More information on how to enter this year’s contest is available via this link:

Finalists will be announced in April, and winners will be announced during the annual awards dinner at the Harvard Club on Monday, May 18. Winners will be presented with "Rubes," unique award statuettes designed exclusively for The Deadline Club by Rube Goldberg, the "dean of American cartoonists."

The awards dinner will feature a prominent figure in New York journalism as guest speaker. Watch their website and the Deadliner Express mailing for detail.
