Candidates nominated for CWA convention delegates, alternates

04/20/2015

Sixteen candidates for delegates and alternates – eight each – to the 2015 convention of the Communications Workers of America were nominated on Monday, after the suggestion of a lack of a quorum halted nominations at last week’s Representative Assembly (RA) meeting.

Nominations for convention delegates are usually made at RA meetings and then followed by a week-long open nominating period.  At the April 14 RA meeting, however, the lack of a quorum was suggested before nominations were made. As a result, the meeting was gaveled to a close.

Under rules approved by the RA on March 24, however, additional written nominations for convention delegates and alternates may be made until the end of the business day on April 22 by any member in good standing as of April 1, as long as they are also seconded.

These written nominations and seconds must be signed by a member in good standing, and sent to Secretary-Treasurer Peter Szekely at the Guild by 6 p.m. on April 22. They can be sent by U.S. Postal Service, overnight mail, fax at 212-730-1531, or by email (as long as the sender attaches a letter signed by a member in good standing for each nomination and for each second) or by hand to the attention of Secretary-Treasurer Peter Szekely, Newspaper Guild of New York, 1500 Broadway Suite 900, New York NY 10036.

The 16 candidates who were nominated and seconded on Monday are:
