As we fight back against massive cuts in federal funding, we need to understand the impact on state and local governments and prepare to engage at that level as well. In this webinar, we’ll provide an overview of public finance at the state and local level including the basics of public budgeting, where scaled-back federal funding is likely to have the deepest effect, how state and local governments raise money in the absence of federal support, how private companies take advantage of public benefits to subsidize private development, and where to find key data with an eye toward identifying potential leverage points for organizing and contract campaigns.
