      <description><![CDATA[TIMES (NEWSPAPER) - At a full negotiating session between the Guild and Times management today, the Times’s lead negotiator, outside lawyer Bernard Plum, stated unequivocally, “The pension plan you’re in has to go.” He added that there would be no contract agreement unless there is “a solution to the pension issue.”  ]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[TIMES (NEWSPAPER) - Although there have been no full blown contract talks since June, the Guild and Times management, meeting in subcommittees, have tentatively agreed to upgrades, pay increases and new job titles for several members, and to preserve the  pay of others whose job titles would be downgraded. Like all tentative agreements, they will not take effect until the there is a member-ratified settlement of the full contract.  ]]></description>
