From Law360 Unit Council | Why We Voted Yes
10/24/2018
We, the Unit Council of Law360 represented by the NewsGuild of New York, are announcing that our members voted overwhelmingly Tuesday in favor of authorizing a strike, if necessary, to accomplish a strong first contract. Our company is a well-respected legal news service owned by LexisNexis, and management needs to know that after two years, enough is enough.
As journalists, we understand the value of our work and we expect the company, which profits from our labor, to demonstrate its respect for our efforts with more than a pat on the back and a thumbs-up for a job well done.
We create the content that is driving Law360’s phenomenal growth in readers, reach and rising revenue, but we are not compensated in a way that matches this success.
More than two years after forming a union, we’ve had it with management dragging out contract negotiations with one shabby proposal after another. This strike authorization demonstrates that our newsroom stands united and is committed to securing a good contract, no matter what it takes. #2Years2Long
