Nomination Made For Executive Committee Seat

02/19/2009

The New York Guild's Representative Assembly (RA) has nominated Monica Johnson, secretary of The New York Times unit, as its candidate to fill the vacant Local Executive Committee seat formerly held by New York Times Unit Vice Chairperson Gladys Bourdain, who recently retired.

Johnson was the only nominee for the seat at the February 17th RA meeting.

Additional nominations for the Executive Committee post may be made by petitions signed by not less than 5% of the Local's membership in good standing, and filed with Secretary-Treasurer Peter Szekely by 5:00 p.m. EST February 25, 2009.

If no petitions are filed by the deadline, Monica Johnson will be declared elected at that time. In the event of a contest, Johnson will run as The Democratic Coalition candidate, and the election will be conducted entirely by mail ballot.
