TIME INC. SETS A BRUTAL TONE

IN FIRST ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS

The Guild at Time Inc. had its first meeting of the 2007 contract negotiation with management representatives on Tuesday, December 12. Time Inc. management set the tone by refusing the Guild’s request to extend the contract while the two sides talk, a refusal unprecedented in 70 years and 28 contracts between the two sides. The Guild asked management several times for the commitment on December 12. The company refused to give it.

Management put forth a group of brutal proposals entirely beyond anything seen in our long history with the company. A series of On Times detailing each side’s proposals will follow.

If what Time Inc. wants to take away from you scares you, you can do something about it: Join the Guild and show which side you’re on!
