Contract Negotiations to Start on October 2

First Session at Time Inc.

Fresh from a lively, well-attended General Membership meeting on the Contract-extension negotiations, the Guild and Time Inc. management will begin those negotiations on Thursday, October 2, at 10 a.m. at Time Inc.  We will let you know which meeting room we will be in once one is assigned.

The Guild emphatically encourages all of its members to attend this session to lend support to the Guild’s negotiating team, led by New York Guild President Barry Lipton and Time Inc. Unit Chairperson John Shostrom.  The more members there are at the negotiations, the greater is the demonstrated support for the Guild.

You don’t need to come for the whole day.  Any time that you can spare – a half-hour or an hour at lunch – will help the Guild.  If you have the day off and want to spend it with the Guild, that’s even better.

The Guild expects that these negotiations will be fairly short, because the company and the Guild have agreed that the negotiations will be restricted in scope to wages and raise structure, as they were in the 2001 Contract-extension negotiations.  A major goal of the Guild this time around is to get rid of the merit pool and thereby guarantee 100% of whatever raise is negotiated.

If you want to be assured of seeing the action, be sure to come on October 2 – the 2001 talks lasted only one day.
