GUILD NOMINATING MEETING

TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 19

Combined Unit Council and Unit Nominations Meeting 

Because of the tragic events of September 11, the Guild Unit Council did not hold its September 12 nominating meeting as scheduled. Therefore, in order to keep on schedule according to the election rules of the New York Local, there will be a combined Unit Council and unit-nominations meeting at 1:00 p.m. in the Guild office, room 4355D of the Time & Life Building (telephone: 212/522-4056). Barry Lipton President of the New York local suggested the dual meeting to Unit Chair John Shostrom on September 13. The rules call for the unit nominations meeting to be held between September 14 and September 21. 

The Unit Council will make its nominations first, and then the floor will be open for other nominations for all offices of the Time Inc. unit. After the unit nominations meeting, additional nominations of candidates who are Guild members in good standing since September 1 may be made by written petitions signed by at least 10% of the unit members in good standing. These petitions must have been signed following the unit nominations meeting and must be given to Bill O’Meara, the Secretary-Treasurer of the local, no later than September 26.
