Nomination Meeting Slated
Monday, September 24th, there will be a membership meeting for all members in good standing of the Newspaper Guild of New York S&P unit. The meeting will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the Riverview room on the 37th floor. The principal item on the agenda will be Unit Officer and Unit Council member nominations. At that time, the Unit Council will formally put the names of its selections into nomination. After that, the floor will be open for further nominations, either individually or by slate.
Additional nominations of candidates may be made by written petition signed by not less than 10 percent of the unit membership. These petitions must be in the hands of the Unit Chairperson, and copies must be in the hands of the Secretary-Treasurer of The Newspaper Guild of New York, not later than seven days after the unit nominations meeting, no later than 5 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2007, (previously reported as October 8, 2007). They may not be presented prior to Monday’s membership meeting. If there is a contest, the election will be by mail ballot.
During a Unit Council meeting held this past Friday, September 14, the Unit Council unanimously endorsed the following slate to serve in office for the next three-year term (Nov. 1, 2007 through Oct. 31, 2010):
