Townsend Replaces Glickson as S&P’s Local Rep
Local Representative Bob Townsend, formerly president of the Brockton (Massachusetts) Newspaper Guild for 13 years and a member of the staff in New York for three years, has been assigned by New York Guild President Barry Lipton to service our unit here at Standard & Poor’s. Bob’s direct number at the Local is 730-1532. Townsend will be replacing Grant Glickson, who has left the Local staff to return to the New York Times. Since coming to New York three years ago, Townsend has successfully negotiated contracts at Time Inc., WPIX, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and two at the Foreign Policy Association. In addition to his new duties at Standard & Poor’s, Townsend also services Reuters, Consumer’s Union, Time Inc. and WPIX. He is assistant editor of "front page."
Unit Meetings Surveys concerning our upcoming negotiations will be mailed very shortly. We’ll discuss survey results and any other thoughts you may have about the contract at a unit meeting at 55 Water Street on Wednesday October 18, at 3 p.m., and one at 473 President Street the same day at 11 a.m. The meeting on Water Street will be in Conference Room 1310 on the 13th floor. As usual, the meeting on President Street will be in the lunchroom.
