Bahr Scholarship Accepting Applications

 

Empire State College of the State University of New York is accepting applications for the Morton Bahr Distance Learning Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year.

 

Students receiving the scholarship, aimed at supporting the educational goals of union members and other workers, will study online through the college’s Center for Distance Learning (www.esc.edu/cdl). Union workers, family members and domestic partners seeking a degree at Empire State College are eligible.

 

The deadline for applications is June 1, 2008. Scholarship winners will be announced by the end of July for fall enrollment

 

The scholarships cover tuition, fees and special services for students who enroll in four to eight credits in at least two terms per year and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students are responsible for the cost of course materials.

The scholarship was founded by Morton Bahr, president emeritus of the Communications Workers of America and an alumnus of Empire State College. Retired New York Guild President Barry Lipton is a member of the Scholarship Selection Committee.
