MEMORIAL SERVICE

FOR DONA FOWLER

NOVEMBER 29TH -- 6:15 P.M.

Friends and associates from both sides of the bargaining table are invited to a memorial service on Thursday, Nov. 29 for Dona Fowler, retired editor of “frontpage,” who died last month after a 32-year career with the New York Guild.

The service will be at 6:15 p.m. EST in the meeting room of the Newspaper Guild of New York, 1501 Broadway, Suite 708.

Fowler, 67, died of congestive heart failure on Oct. 30, just two months after retiring as the longest-serving staff representative of the New York Guild.

During much of her career, she represented the employees of El Diario, Standard & Poor’s, Consumers Union and Scholastic. But at various times, she had also been assigned to The New York Times, Newsweek and other units.

Fowler, who won 19 awards for excellence in labor journalism as “frontpage” editor, came to the Guild in 1967 from Scholastic, where she edited two science magazines and an entertainment section while serving as Guild unit chairperson.
