Nominations made for Executive Committee Positions

 

    Last night the New York Guild’s Representative Assembly (RA) named its candidates to fill several positions on the Local Executive Committee which have been created as a result of the recent election of Bill O’Meara as President of the Local and Peter Szekely as Secretary Treasurer.  Both Officers will assume their new positions on Monday June 4th, following the retirement of current New York Guild President Barry Lipton.

 

    The nominees of the Representative Assembly are Art Mulford (Guild Unit Chair at NY Times) who is currently the Local’s First Vice Chairperson, was nominated to fill the vacancy in the position of Local Chairperson, which was previously held by Peter Szekely.  Also nominated were Karen Rohan (Guild Unit Chairperson at Foreign Policy Association), currently the Local’s Second Vice Chairperson, was nominated as First Vice Chairperson, Ed Fannon (Guild Unit Chairperson at Standard & Poor’s), currently the Local’s Third Vice Chairperson was nominated as Second Vice Chairperson, Myra Kreiman (Guild Unit Chairperson Newsweek), currently a regular Executive Committee Member, was nominated as Third Vice Chairperson, and Alanna Stone, currently Guild Unit Chairperson at WQXR, was nominated to fill the vacant regular Executive Committee seat.

 

    Petitions for additional candidates, signed by not less than 5% of the membership in good standing may be filed with Secretary-Treasurer Bill O’Meara by 5:00 pm Tuesday, May 29th.  Copies of rules for nomination and election have been sent to all shops.

 

    If no petitions are filed by the deadline, the candidates nominated by the Representative Assembly will be declared elected at that time.

 

    In the event of a contest the candidates nominated by the Representative Assembly will run as the Democratic Coalition Slate, and the election will be conducted entirely by mail ballot.
