NOMINATIONS MADE FOR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE SEATS

The New York Guild’s Representative Assembly (RA) has named Reuters Guild Unit Officer and Representative Assembly member Eileen Moustakis, a Reuters Correspondent, as its candidate to fill the vacant Local Executive Committee seat formerly occupied by Reuters Grievance Chairperson John Phillips, who has joined the Local’s staff as a Local Representative.  The RA has also nominated N.Y. Times Guild Unit Officer and Representative Assembly member Gladys Bourdain, a Staff Editor, to fill the Local Executive Committee position held by Ronnie Munder, who will be retiring from The Times.

Moustakis and Bourdain were both unopposed at the June 13 RA meeting, following their nomination.

Additional candidates for the Executive Committee post may be made via petitions and by not less than 5% of the membership in good standing, and filed with Secretary-Treasurer Bill O’Meara by 5:00 p.m. June 20, 2006.

If no petitions are filed by the deadline, Eileen and Gladys will be declared elected at that time.  In the event of a contest, the candidate will run on The Democratic Coalition Slate, and the election will be conducted entirely by mail ballot.
