Rey King

Office Manager


The Local’s office manager, Rey King, has been in charge of financial and membership record keeping for our union since being promoted to his post in 1997, when then-office manager Cesar Viruet retired. Rey had been the Local’s assistant office manager for eight years.

Born in Quezon City, Philippines, Rey graduated from the University of the East, in Manila, with a B.S. in business administration, majoring in accounting.

In 1974, Rey went to work as a stock trader for R and L Investments, Inc. in the Philippine capital. He left Manila in 1980, and was hired as a contract administrator for United Press International in New York. In that position, he made sure that the company’s contracts with its subscribers were properly fulfilled.

King joined the Wire Service Guild Local at UPI and became a United States citizen in 1984.

From June, 1987 until August of 1989, Rey was the full charge bookkeeper for the Wire Service Guild.

Rey is married and has a daughter and one son..
