As a member in good standing of the Newspaper Guild of New York, you are entitled, of course, to all of the benefits and protections of the contract negotiated with your employer by the Guild. If you don’t have a copy of the contract, please see your Shop Steward or Unit Chairperson. In addition, your membership in the Guild makes you eligible to participate in a wide variety of special programs that can save you money and make your life easier! Life Insurance Once you have completed one year as a member in good standing of the Newspaper Guild of New York, you are covered by a $5000 life insurance policy. This insurance, which is fully paid for by the Guild, is underwritten through Amalgamated Life, and is subject to the terms of the policy. For more information, please contact Guild Headquarters. Credit Union New York Guild members are also eligible to join the New York Times Employees Federal Credit Union. (You do not have to be employed by The Times.) The credit union offers a full range of accounts and loans at favorable rates.
