Nominated Guild officers declared elected at Kaplan unit

Guild members at Kaplan International Centers who were nominated for unit officer positions at a July 10 membership meeting were declared elected on July 18 when the deadline lapsed for opposing candidates to be nominated by petition.

The newly elected officers, who will comprise the Kaplan Unit Council, are:

Unit Chairperson……………..Anthony Jones (Midtown)

First Vice Chairperson……..Shana Dagenhart (Empire State Building)

Second Vice Chairperson...Toby Kahn (East Village)

Secretary………………………..Tasha Uria (East Village)

Treasurer………………………..Daniel Valdes (Midtown)

Assistant Treasurer…………John Blanchette (Empire State Building)  

The officers’ terms, which are currently in the middle of a three-year cycle for all New York Guild unit offices, will expire on Oct. 31, 2013. The terms of the next set of Kaplan unit officers will last a full three years.

The first order of business for the new officers is to select a bargaining committee and to work with their Guild representative to prepare bargaining proposals.

Remember, to play any role in this process, even to attend meetings, you must be a Guild member. No dues will be assessed until a negotiated contract has been approved by a majority of Kaplan Guild members. If you signed a Guild card, you are already a member. If not, you can sign up at any time. To sign a Guild card, drop by our office at 1501 Broadway, Suite 708 (between 43^rd and 44^th Streets) Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. (we sometimes close earlier on summer Fridays) or reply to this email with your home address and we’ll mail you a card.
